Give your body a little love,

it deserves it

Welcome to

Zara Massage Therapies

My journey into the world of massage therapy started when I realised that I needed to dedicate time to myself, focussing on my own health and well-being.

My four children, husband and part-time work as a carer kept me busy and left little time for me time. After discovering how important personal well-being is I decided to dedicate my time to helping others relax, unwind and relieve stress through methods that worked for me.

I believe an immersive experience is essential when receiving any relaxation treatment. With this in mind I look to provide a space that compliments the therapy itself.

Inspired by promoting well-being, I have studied and am certified in a range of therapies, including full-body massage and Indian Head Massage and I continue to study other therapies to enhance my knowledge and skills.

The Benefits of Massage

Massage is a wonderful form of relaxation, but there are a variety of other health and wellbeing benefits

1. It can counteract all that sitting you do

Stress is everywhere. This includes physical stress that can build up for anyone. You may be more susceptible to this stress if you spend much of your working day sitting. Massage can counteract the imbalance caused from sitting.

2. It eases muscle pain and aides recovery

All that work your muscles do can sometimes result in pain. Massage is a great way to reduce this pain and increase circulation, this in turn increases oxygen to assist with recovery.

3. It soothes anxiety

Creating a safe environment for those looking to relax and unwind is essential. A happy biproduct of this is a soothing of anxiety. An increase in endorphins, serotonin and dopamine occurs during a massage to reduce stress.

4. It improves sleep

Not only do benefits of massage encourage a restful sleep, it also helps those who can’t otherwise comfortably rest. It can force the body to relax, pulling muscles smooth and long again and causing an increase in blood circulation. These send signals to the brain that tell it to relax. Over time, massage can intervene in this cycle and end hyperarousal, allowing us to sleep well again.

5. It relieves headaches

Massage therapy helps to relieve both types of headaches by easing muscle tension, relieving muscle spasms, releasing shortened muscles and relaxing tension held in the muscles of the head, shoulders, and neck. When muscle tension eases, there is less pressure on the nerves and blood vessels that supply them.
